Georgios Moraitis

Junior researcher - civil engineer, msc, phd candidate, expert in computational frameworks for cyber-physical risk assessment

Mr. Georgios Moraitis is a Junior Researcher with a Diploma in Civil Engineering (University of Thessaly, 2015) and an MSc in Water Resources Science & Technology with a specialization in “Hydrology and Environmental Water Management” (IPPS NTUA, 2017).

He is a PhD candidate (2019) in School of Civil Eng. NTUA. Since early 2018 he has been working as a Researcher in the Laboratory of Hydrology and Water Resources Management of NTUA.

He has also collaborated as a researcher in STOP-IT project (Horizon-2020), which deals with cyber-physical security issues in critical water infrastructures.

A key focus of his research is the development of a generalized computational framework for cyber-physical risk assessment, which can be adapted to a utility’s operational and regulatory frameworks.

In addition, he is actively involved in the development of a new integrated risk management platform and the design of an innovative cyberphysical simulation model.

In previous research activities he explored issues of acquiring and processing field data using drones, as well as error reduction techniques.

His research interests include, inter alia, innovative techniques for data acquisition, management and processing as well as utilizing new technologies to optimize the design, performance and management of natural and artificial water resources.

He specializes in the fields of Hydrology, Computer Modelling, Water Resources Management and Environmental Engineering.
